This is a handmade watercolour half pan in the colour Athena. Created from a combination of the highest quality pigments and our very own handmade binder. This highly pigmented paint is ultra-vibrant, producing rich and beautiful results. The pigment used in this paint is a multi chrome pigment so the colour will shift and look different depending on the light source around, changing from Blue to Purple from different angles.

Really stunning colour

It’s a little dark so it does not show up as well on black watercolor paper. But it’s still beautiful!

I must admit when I bought it I thought it was going to be "bluer", I was going to use it for blue details in painting. It's still richly blue, but more on the darker side, I use it in my normal painting to enrich shadows, something that I struggled to do before. The shimmer and blue tones in the paint somehow adds to the richness of the deeper shadows in a way that my normal watercolours doesn't. I cannot recommend this paint enough.

Gorgeous

These paints are really smooth and vivid. This is probably my favourite of the colourshifts, with gorgeous purple, indigo and blues.
